Sorunda Hembygdsförening is a very active society that holds many traditions going.
In July, the society opens up the charming little cottage "Fattigstugan" (also known as Torpstugan). In the old poorhouse in the village of Torp, that was active until 1912, you will find a lot of interesting old objects to look at. If you are passing it is a great opportunity to get to know more about the Sorunda district!
The famous Sorunda Cake is one of the local delicacies. The traditional maypole is full of eggshells, for fertility sake of course.
It is not at all strange that they say:
Sorunda - a parish of its own!
Tourist information is available in the cottage "Fattigstugan" in the village of Torp during July, every day between 11 am and 4 pm. The society offers coffee and homemade cakes for free.
During the rest of the year the cottage "Fattigstugan" is open every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.
Getting there by public transport:
Take bus 858 towards Grödby from Nynäshamns station. Get off at the stop "Sorunda church".
